Renovation Trust
Homeowner and Contractor Protection
Homeowner and Contractor Protection
Not only does Renovation Trust protect your money, but it also makes getting paid easier, faster and less stressful.
You have a choice on how you receive payments:
It sucks chasing down clients for money - it strains the relationship.
Now you just click the Request Homeowner Release Funds button and technology does your collection for you. The client is notified, they inspect the work and release the funds to you.
No more trying to get a hold of your client and begging for payment. No more hearing: can you wait for their pay day? No more getting ignored for days. Remember, they have already paid for the project and the money is in the Renovation Trust account, just waiting for you to request the funds.
It leads to better relationships and repeat work from happy clients.
Based on the Renovation Trust terms of use, once you request funds, your customer is expected to inspect the work and release the funds either immediately or, at the very least, on the same day as the request was made. Through a combination of push notifications, emails and text messages, Renovation Trust will remind the homeowner/buyer every 8 hours to your inspect work and release the funds. If, by day 4, your customer has not responded, Renovation Trust will personally try and make contact with them. If, after the 7th day, no contact has been made and/or no action has been taken, with proof that work has been completed, Renovation Trust will release the funds to the contractor/seller.
At this time, you are going to have to communicate with the client and try to resolve the issue. Work hard to resolve the issue.
If you can not resolve the issue, either you or the client can click the Dispute button on the milestone in question. This locks the funds until a resolution is found. There is an $89 fee and a Renovation Trust Dispute Negotiator is assigned. Under the Terms of Service, both parties must pay the $89 within 48 hours otherwise Renovation Trust can release the money. The $89 covers up to 3 hours of a Renovation Trust Dispute Negotiator's time, to assist in finding a resolution.
If no resolution can be found, the funds are locked until either there is a mutual settlement, or an arbitrator or court has passed judgment.
The money is there for you and protected. The client has no access to the money.
Once funds are placed on a project, the funds are locked. Any movement of money, including a request for a refund must be approved by both parties.
The customer has no access to the money without the permission of the contractor. The money placed on a project is the contractor's money conditional upon whether or not the contractor completes the project as agreed to in the terms of service. Only you, the contractor, can refund money back to the client as per the terms of service. You may provide a refund to your customer in the case where the project changes and the total price is reduced. However, your customer can never unilaterally withdraw or remove funds on a project once the project has been funded. You are always protected.
